                                                                       Good news/bad news
We made the CAA top 10 worst road list. Impressive as we just started  the last week of the three week survey.  It is listed as Saint Peters Fourchu Road Lower St Esprit. When we voted it was for all the communities on the road . When you go to CAA map and look for St Peters Fourchu Road it takes you to St Esprit so that is likely why it was listed like that.  Interestingly, it is where the worst section of the road  begin/ends (heading toward Grand River).                                                                                  Good News

On April 13, 2021, The Minister of Transportation, The Honourable Lloyd Hines, in response to the question about our road from Transportation Critic has announced that 7.5 km of this road is scheduled for paving in 2022. He notes that this is the beginning of the rebuild of the road and it is the intention of the Department to continue each year with funds from the Maintenance Budget until it is completed. The petition reads as follows:
(Header:)  We, the undersigned, would like to PETITION government regarding the deplorable state of the St Peter's Fourchu Road, which runs from Lower L’Ardoise to Fourchu, a 50 km section of the Fleur de Lis Trail which is listed in the Nova Scotia Doers and Dreamers Travel Guide 2020. Initially paved in 1994, the road is now in severely poor condition risking motorist safety and resulting in repeated vehicular damage to residents and visitors alike. We ask the Nova Scotia Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal and the Minister of Business, responsible for Tourism Nova Scotia, to recognize the economic importance and tourism impact of the Fleur de Lis Trail; acknowledge the above mentioned road’s current deplorable condition and commit to prioritizing the repaving of it as well as improved maintenance to it and its connecting roadways. We are asking for an IMMEDIATE 5-year plan to repave this stretch of highway, starting with the most urgent sections of the roadway, to a standard that can accommodate the heavy weight traffic it sustains.
(Footer:)  Only petitions with original signatures will be accepted. Alana Paon; MLA for Cape Breton-Richmond will table the petition on our behalf in the NS House of Assembly. We would ask that the petition forms be back to your “pick up person” before Mar 4/21 Any petitions received after this date may be tabled at a later date.
